San Francisco – Target stores in the area have been hit with an alarming rise in theft. Other retail locations in the areas are also reporting rapidly increasing crime and security issues in the area. The stores are working with law enforcement and elected officials to help combat the issue, but it is not enough.
Finally, Target and others have said enough is enough. Target has decided to greatly reduce the open hours of it’s stores across San Francisco. They will change from being open from 7am till 10pm to now just 9apm to 6pm. Crime is so rampant that thieves are walking in and out with merchandise. The stores are powerless to stop the criminals for fear of violence to their team members or lawsuits from the criminals.
San Francisco is reporting a crime spree of more than 4 times the nationwide average for thefts according to CNN.
Retail stores are not the only ones seeing the crime increase. Residents and tourists have seen crime jump as well with a 750% increase in car break-ins alone.
