Former President Donald Trump is to provide live in-person commentary for a televised boxing event being held in Hollywood, Florida this Saturday. The main bout of the evening will feature former Heavyweight Champion Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield in a comeback fight.
The event is being billed as “Donald Trump – No Holes Barred” and will feature the former president and his son Donald Jr on a 4-hour long hot-mic providing live commentary for the scheduled bouts.
In a pre-fight press release the former president said: “I love great fighters and great fights. I look forward to seeing both this Saturday night and sharing my thoughts ringside. You won’t want to miss this special event”.
Trump has a history of involvement in combat sports which began when he hosted early UFC events at his Atlantic City Casino as well as being involved in boxing promotions in the 80s. He brokered and hosted the famous Tyson vs Spinks fight at his Atlantic City resort, a fight in which Tyson famously won by knockout within 91 seconds.
He was also inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame in 2015 and the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame in 2018, while he served as president. Trump gained praise from the boxing community in 2018 for posthumously pardoning Jack Johnson, the first African-American heavyweight champion.
The latest news has come after sources close to Trump have indicated that he and his team have already built a campaign operation to reclaim the White House at the next election with campaign adviser Jason Miller saying that “he is between 99 and 100 percent” going to run in 2024.
With Biden clearly on the ropes after a rocky first few months in office, a Middle Eastern disaster and growing skepticism of his mental capability to be Commander-in-Chief, don’t expect Trump to pull any punches when he gets down to political talk on Saturday night.
