Unbelievable-All Charges Dropped

BLM riots and protests last year devastated America. Property damage and looting ravaged small and large businesses wherever the protests appeared.

Ironically, many of the businesses looted, burned or destroyed were pro BLM. At least the were before they lost their businesses.

Those businesses are trying to sue whomever they can to recoup their losses. However, it came out via NBC news that hundreds of cases of rioters and protesters that destroyed businesses and were charged with burglary and looting are being being dropped.

That’s right, NYC is dropping hundreds of cases against looters and burglars who looted during BLM riots. Businesses are dumbfounded at this turn of events. They feel they are being brushed off to the side as if they don’t matter and it’s their fault they got looted.

Is this fair? Is this Just? Is this the new America?

One of the great oddities of the past 15 months of riots is that Portland, OR has had the most and longest running “protests” (what we used to call a “riot”) despite the fact that none of the events which supposedly “triggered” all this rage happened in Portland. So why did Portland get hit so hard? Easy, their mayor, Ted Wheeler, actively courted the rioters, all but officially giving them the key to the city, while the DA, Michael Schmidt early on announced a “no charge” policy – any crime (vandalism, unlawful assembly, disorderly conduct, assault, battery, arson, burglary, theft, robbery, likely even murder, etc) committed in the course of a protest would not be subject to being charged. If the cops stopped you and made you put the TV back on the store shelf, that’s as far as it went (and nothing to stop you going back to get it later). NO charges would be filed and no criminal cases would be prosecuted. Yes, it was a “license to steal” – and worse. Without any charges even, there would be no “restitution orders” from any criminal court and any civil suit could not rely on a criminal conviction to support the liability claim making any civil action for damage unduly time consuming and expensive. It was stupid and obscene and the only thing more stupid and obscene is that these people got reelected. How are you going to feel sorry for the “victims” of this lawlessness when they do that? The only “cure” for stuff like this is to put a border fence around Portland or give the North Koreans targeting data for it.

I believe if you damage some one else property that you are responsible for the damages. What if it was your property damaged?

I would recommend that the affected businesses seek legal council on how they can take the cost of the damages out of the taxes and other fees the cities are expecting to collect from the businesses that have effectively been gang raped.
